Thursday, December 19 wow....im looking around too. okay--ill update folk: still applying to grad school, but my focus has changed drastically--im applying to social work (MSW-Columbia, NYU, and possibly USC) and teacher education programs (certification to teach in public schools--Teacher's College (Columbia), NYU, USC). im also applying to Carnegie Mellon's MA program in Literary and CUltural Studies and the Teach for America Program (teachforamerica.org). I was so hyped about doing an PHD program in english but i realized that a PHD just isnt inthe cards for me..you have to be committed to a PHD program, and I just didnt see myself finishing a program of that magnitude. Plus, I think my biggest strength (one ofthem) is helping people--being a social worker or teacher would be the better career route for me..however long that career route/journey is supposed to be. im still applying to carnegie mellon--if i end up there, the program is a year long, and I can still go and teach in the public school system (id just need certification credits)...
So im happy about my change, but im still worrie dsomewhat. But it will be okay....happy holidays everyone!
